Most notably perhaps is the announcement of retirement from NFL Commishioner Paul Tagliabue. Tagliabue has been the commish since 1989 and is remembered most as legitimizing the league creating owner/player relations stability and turning the NFL into a brand.

Now, for signing/releases news.

Pittsburg resigned Charlie Batch, Brett Kiesel (DT), Deshea Townsend, and Jerame Tuman.
They lost; Chris Hope to TEN, Randle El to WASH, and Kimo Von Olhaffen to NY.
They have picked up Ryan Clark (SS) from WASH
